The three-day international event started this Wednesday, September 28, at the BallRoom of the Savoy Palace, in the city of Funchal, and is broadcast live on the Hopin platform.
During today, products will be launched, there will be exhibitions, networking, round tables and VIP programming.
The organization expects to receive about 400 visitors in person, and hundreds of people will be following the event digitally.
To DIÁRIO, Anne-Marie Enns, executive producer of IGS, explains that the project started about five years ago under the name ‘VR/RA [virtual reality and augmented reality] Global
Summit’ with face-to-face events in Canada, which with the pandemic of covid-19 began to be carried out digitally.

Two years later, the name of the project became ‘Immerse Global Summit (IGS) – Europe’ in order to encompass the entire technological industry, being this the first event to take place in person.
“We chose Madeira for its potential. The Regional Government is excited about technology and innovation. It just felt like the perfect place to bring in new ideas, it’s a different and beautiful place. I think people weren’t expecting the event to take place in Madeira, but there are incredible AR/AR [virtual reality and augmented reality] companies, the digital community here is huge. It’s a good place to start and grow for years to come. Anne-Marie Enns”
The Immerse Global Summit – Europe’ is organized by the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Association (VRARA) and is sponsored by Lenovo, Qualcomm, Midwam, YumeGo, Lusospace, 4D Views, Auki Labs, PWC, Start Up Madeira, Madeira Promotion Bureau, Government of Madeira, and Dimmersions.
